I have a mid-2012 13-inch MacBook Pro with a 2.5 GHz Intel “Core i5” processor.

I’m looking at a 2019 MacBook Air with a
1.6GHz dual-core Intel Core i5, Turbo Boost up to 3.6GHz, with 4MB L3 cache.

I’m worried that it’s a slower processor and will effect my podcasting.

I record and mix in GarageBand with two USB microphones. Don’t do any live music or too much else. I do need to replace the 2012 here soon.

Thanks for your thoughts.

browser compatibility issues. Whenever I look at your blog in Safari, it looks fine however, when opening in Internet Explorer, it has
some overlapping issues.

As long as you don’t need to create music, it’s a fantastic and easy way to put together a podcast. I’m finally getting it done, creating a lot of podcasts before going live. I want to have at least three months completed before launching the first episode. But that first episode will go live soon, I’m not putting off the work any longer. Thanks for inspiring me to get it done!

I’d go with whichever one helps me feel productive.

I don’t recommend moving from Mac to another operating system unless you are already fairly familiar with the operating system. That creates a situation where your learning curve is increased by forcing you to learn a new interface, a new mouse, new keys. If you’re like me and already work cross-platform, then it might be worth the switch. Otherwise, I think you’ll be more dissatisfied by the differences between the two operating systems.

As another I option, I often travel with my Chromebook. In addition to there being quite a few online audio and video editors that work for podcast editing (article coming soon), I use my Chromebook to remote connect to my beast at my studio at home and edit from there.
