I’ve been in the top 100 on both the keyword search and in the fiction category. I’d love to be at the top of the main category, but that will take some time. The only reason why I bother looking at fiction is because it helps tell me what place I’m out in my friendly competition. The search results are different, but I think that is because they’re using the different main categories so it makes it slightly annoying because it is difficult to pin down how to get on top of the others. I think the search placement is far more important than anything because personally, I think people are more likely to search as opposed to just clicking random podcasts on the front page.

Hi Matthew,
I’m thinking about changing the category of the podcast that I do with a friend (called The Denim & Boots Podcast). It’s now in Society & Culture, but I actually think it ought to be in Fashion & Beauty.
If we change the category, will there be negative consequences?

I hate to see people get obsessed with New and Noteworthy. I have a few sound clips at newandnoteworthy.info where they reveal they didn’t much of a bump from being in new and noteworthy. In once case they had 32 downloads.
