You would still have the BG noise mixed with the voice, except ‘the gate’ would only open (allowing signal to be heard) when someone is speaking.

Look up ‘noise gate’ for more info. Generally there is no work around though. Either you record in a a quiet environment or you accept that your recording is going to sound like it was recorded outside, or live, with BG ambience. It is very difficult to remove these things from your recording.

Planning and preparation is key to getting the recording you want, otherwise it’s a compromise.

Instance is there an application Windows or Android that I could set the dB level that would be cuttoff or allowed to record.
