Series 3 Teaser & an Interview with the Boagworld Team

In this episode I’m introducing the topic and format of the next series of PodCraft, and it’s something a little different. Next, I’m including an interview I did with the Boagworld guys a few months ago talking about the Podcast Host. If you’re interested in a little more detail on the business, then this is for you.

Series 3 of PodCraft

First, to the next series. For a while I’ve been trying to get in the habit of doing more regular content. If you’re a regular listener to this show, you’ll know that PodCraft is anything but regular, aiming for weekly on a Friday, but falling to bi-weekly every now and again.

Well, in an attempt to go big or go home, I’ve decided the next series is going to be a daily podcast, running the whole month of November. Now, I know there’s nothing new about daily podcasts – the excellent John Lee Dumas, to me, pioneered the form, and it’s been repeated many times since – but I wanted to challenge myself to do something new, something big, and there’s no question that it’s a hard task to manage, even over a month.

So, I’m hoping this forms a good experiment on how much of an effect a daily format can have on numbers, as well as giving me insight into how much work is required to achieve it.

What’s the Topic?

“What about the topic?” I heard you ask. Well, something that I thought suited the short-form daily format well is Tools and Tips. Since it’s what I do the most work with on a daily basis, I thought I’d try and offer the a definitive guide to what you need to run your own self-hosted WordPress Podcasting website. So, here we go:

This will be all the tools I use to run my own self-hosted sites, and how I use them to turbocharge podcasting production, promotion and consumption.

• If you’re an existing self-hoster, then you can use these tools to turbocharge your website.
• OR, you’ve been looking to self-host for a while, then I’ll give you some resources right at the start to help you get started. Then you can follow along and build out a really effective Podcasting website.

An Interview with Paul Boag and Marcus Lillington

As an added bonus, since the content above is really just a tease, I’ve included on this episode an interview I did a while back with Paul Boag and Marcus Lillington of Headscape. They were doing a series on site owners for the Boagworld podcast, and I was honoured to be asked to join in. The episode didn’t quite make it onto the Podcast so they kindly agreed to let me include it here on PodCraft.

This is Paul and Marcus interviewing me all about The Podcast Host, and my other work, so if you’re interested in a little more background on both, then this might be for you.

It was actually Paul and Marcus that got me into Podcasting in the first place, listening to the most excellent Boagworld Podcast right from episode 5, all those years ago. So, here and now guys, I salute you for my current choice of career!
