What was left out was the ability to mix in 5.1 surround in 32 bit as well the ability to add surround reverb then reconvert it to a 32 bit stereo file. Thus, for more advanced recording engineers and producers, go with Audition as the learning curve at the expert level is not there. Basic recording not knowing much, why say no to a free open source program called Audacity? Remember to tag your files in Audtion as the metadata is there if ever there is copyright theft online in an MP3 or AAC file for forensics in the nasty copyright fight between lawyers and the thieves …

I use an iPad Pro for many of my basic tracks with Garageband and import into my Mac and go from there. Everyone does what works for them, and this works for me using just the iPad’s microphone, as its about microphone placement just as much as quality. However, this is not very good with a live drum kit and a drummer who hits them cymbals hard as good one will do, the bleed is difficult to balance, so there I will use a Mixer and mic the drummer. I left a link for being able to do that and how Audtion can sound in editing. By Spring of 2020 surely I will have plenty of new tracks to showcase a Mackie board, Focusrite sound card and Shure and Audix microphones. Consider the music a teaser of what’s about to hit.

Keep the music alive for the 22nd century! Later

Shaun

Audacity exports flac files at a resolution which is predefined in Preferences (Mac OS) and does not give an option to set the sample rate in the export option screen whereas Audition permits you to define both the sample rates as well as bit rates while exporting out.

In the subject case, Audacity had a sampling rate of 44.1Khz predefined in preferences, so the output file was actually 24/44k resolution which is roughly half of the 24/96K.

So in case you are using Audacity, please do set up the resolution in preferences before exporting any audio.

Any plausible reason for that ? Both exported files are of 24/96k resolution in flac format.

I’m going to fix it, even though your sense of humor makes me really want to leave it alone. 🙂

It is by far the most easy-to-use audio editor I have come across. I would love to hear what you think of it.

Maybe 10 years ago. I am surprised you make that statement Matthew, LAME is the de facto standard for MP3s these days (I don’t even think any of the other encoders are still being updated).
